At 1520 metres altitude, the Serra da Estrela Youth Hostel is at the summit of the mountain range in the Parque Natural da Serra da Estrela (Serra da Estrela Natural Park). Can you imagine the view, especially in winter when the mountain slopes are painted white!

Well, this is actually the best time to visit us, it is perfect for doing Winter sports such as Skiing, Snowboarding or Snow painting - a kind of Paintball.

But because there’s absolutely nothing missing for you at all, you have the chance to be in the snow even in Summer thanks to the artificial synthetic ski slope, you will find in Manteigas!

Walking is also an excellent choice for adventure seekers, seeing that there are over 300 km of signposted trails in this this mountain area, some of which start very close to the Hostel.

If you are a connoisseur of Portuguese regional cuisine, then you have come to the right place. There are true delicacies such as the famous bread, Serra da Estrela cheese, the chorizo sausage, and the honey, among many other mountain delights!

It is best not to wait for Winter before coming here!
