The experience

The volunteer is encouraged to participate in the activities of the Java Project Association, helping to energize and organize a "dog-walk", as a way to raise awareness of the society for the abandonment and mistreatment of animals, and help in cleaning the kennel and walking animals. In exchange, you can get to know a municipality where the green and the sea predominate, with a coast of fantastic beaches, much history and Jurassic to the mix, from the French invasions, sweets and regional drinks! A solidary project with four-footed friends, but also with humanity!

About the host

This is the best Youth Hostel there is! You’re right on the beach, you have the countryside, and plenty of dinosaurs in the mix, in other words, the best waves for Surfing and Bodyboarding, great spots for fishing and diving, and an infinite number of activities for all tastes and ages!

If the weather doesn’t cooperate, which may happen from time to time, you can always pop over to the Museu da Lourinhã (Lourinhã Museum) and see the largest dinosaur fossil collection in the Iberian Peninsula.

It’s just a hop, skip, and a jump from the Hostel to the beaches of Santa Cruz, Baleal and Peniche. Your nights promise to be fun-filled and entertaining, there’s no shortage of fantastic bars and clubs. Start planning your holidays/vacation!
