Espinho, praia e desporto
Who comes to Espinho, does not come to roast under the sun. Take the opportunity to go on the sea walks, go surfing, ride a bike, play volleyball and discover the traditions of local fishermen.
Espinho is an active city that appeals to sports. Before going to the beach, explore a bit of the city and go to Praça Dr. José Salvador, where the City Hall is located. Nearby, you have the Municipal Market, always bustling with activity in the morning. Go down R. 19 and walk through this local shopping street to the Baía Beach.
You’ve never got on a surf board before?! Then, this is going to be a first! You have several Surf Schools where you can rent equipment and take an initiation class. Everyone knows that the best waves in the North are in Espinho. Next to the coast, you have several restaurants with terrace where you can order fresh grilled fish. Try the kebabs, the squid and the sardines, if they’re in season.
If your legs can still make it, rent a bike and take the Eco Via Litoral trail to the south. Make a stop at the Pescadores Beach. From March to October, from 8h00 a.m., you can see the fishermen pulling the nets in.
If you want to take a bike ride to the Paramos Lagoon, you’re 5 km away. This is an area of ecological interest where you can go Birdwatching later in the afternoon. Manage your time well so you can return while there’s still light.
