Is there an age limit to use the Youth Hostels?

There is no age limit. Youth Hostels can be used by everyone. 

However, children under the age of 16 should not stay alone in a multiple room, unless their guardians take full responsibility. 

Do I need a Hostels Card to use the Youth Hostels?

It's not necessary, but you can benefit from a 10 % discount on the rate and other benefits if you use it. 

In the rest of the world, this card will always give you a discount or allow entry to Youth Hostels (depending on the location). 

Do all Youth Hostel bedrooms have bunk beds?

No, all Youth Hostels also have the option of double rooms with and without a private bathroom. In some cases, there are also apartments available. 

What services are there in the Hostels?

Most Hostel services are communal, such as the kitchen, the laundry room and the living room, among others. However, in some cases, these may vary. 

You can see all the information about existing and working services on the individual webpage of each Hostel. 

How can I make a booking?

You can book online by searching for the various options on the HOSTELS tab. 

Alternatively, you can contact the Hostels directly and book by telephone or email. Check our contacts on the CONTACTS tab. 

For 10 or more people, we recommend using the group form, under GROUPS & PROGRAMMES. 

Are bed linen and bath towels included?

The Double Rooms always have sheets and bath towels. 

The Multiple Rooms only have sheets, which are placed on top of the bed. You will need to bring your own bath towel. 

Is breakfast included in the price?

Yes, prices already include breakfast. 

How can I cancel my booking?

There are several cancellation policy at the Hostels. You should always take them into consideration when making your booking. You can only cancel for free if you request cancellation during the period when it is free. 

Non-Refundable reservations do not have any free cancellation period.  

For Refundable reservations, the most commonly used free cancellation policies are: 

- Free cancellation up to 48 hours before the initial check-in time. 

- Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the initial check-in time. 

- Free cancellation up to 7 days before check-in. 

- Free cancellation up to 14 days before check-in. 

These conditions vary depending according to the Hostel and the time of year. 

Upon booking, always check which policy applies to your case.  

Are the multiple rooms mixed?

As a rule, the multiple rooms are divided into a female wing and a male wing. 

Some Hostels have Mixed Multiple Rooms that are clearly identified at the time of booking. 

Can I pay for the accommodation at check-in?

Bookings are paid for when made. Without payment, the booking is cancelled. 

What payment methods can I use to make a booking on the website?

We have the following payments methods available: ATM, MB WAY and Credit Card. 

What documents do I have to present at check-in?

All guests must present their valid identification document (Citizen Card or Passport). 

Is one Youth Hostels Card or one European Youth Card enough per room?

One Hostels Card or one European Youth Card is required per room when the booking is made benefiting from the special rates of these two cards. 

 

From what age can I have my own Youth Hostels Card?

You can have a Youth Hostels Card from the age of 12. It gives you access to all the Youth Hostels of the National Youth Tourism Network in Portugal and worldwide. 

If there a difference between the Youth Hostels Card and the European Youth Card?

The European Youth Card gives you access to thousands of other advantages in Portugal and Europe, it’s not just limited to Youth Hostels. It is intended for young people between the ages of 12 and 29. 

The Hostels Card gives you access to all Youth Hostels across the world associated with Hostelling International (about 4 000) with benefits. It is intended for everyone from the age of 12. 

What is the cost of phone calls to our phone numbers?

If you call from a landline:  Cost of calling to the national fixed network.
If you call from a mobile phone: Cost of call to national mobile network.

Line 707 233 233 (this line has been discontinued): Cost per minute of €0.09 + VAT for calls originating on the fixed network and €0.13 + VAT for calls originating on the mobile network.
