Foz Côa, património e aventura
Vila Nova de Foz Côa invites you to discover a unique cultural and natural heritage. The Vale do Côa Archaeological Park and the Alto Douro Wine Region are World Heritage Sites. This is also the perfect place to practice radical sports.
Anyone who comes to Foz Côa has to go to the Museum and take a walk to the Foz Côa Rock Engravings. You even have the possibility to go kayaking and experience the waters of the River Côa.
For your afternoon, you can plan another activity like a mountain biking or an all-terrain raid. You can also go to the Foz do Sabor River Beach, near Torre de Moncorvo. Here, you also have the Sabor Ecopista, which connects Moncorvo to Carviçais. The trail on the old railway is spectacular, but beware... it's 24 km long!
Torre de Moncorvo is also a village worth visiting. The granite houses and the wrought iron balconies give this place a unique identity. Try the ‘amêndoas cobertas’ sweet [coated almonds] in a local pastry shop, they’re a delight.
