Portimão, praia e animação
From the estuary of the River Arade to the Ria do Alvor, Portimão has 8 km of beaches, each with its best characteristics. At night, the bars are filled with entertainment and good music.
Go out with your backpack and beach towel. Walk towards Praça da República, where you can also take a short visit to the N. Sra. da Conceição Mother Church. Follow via R. Vasco da Gama, a pedestrian and commercial street, and head to Praça Manuel Teixeira Gomes.
After feeling the pulse of the village, go along the riverside to the Rocha Beach. If you're on foot, go up to the Sta. Catarina Fortress, where you have an exceptional viewpoint to the Rocha Beach. This is one of Algarve’s best known beaches. If you’re driving, you can also choose other beautiful beaches such as the Vau, Alemão or Alvor Beaches.
If it’s not beach weather, find out more about the hiking trails between the Rocha and Alvor Beaches. You can also do other activities such as boat trips along the coast, Diving, Karting or Parachute Jumping.
At night, the entire waterfront road, which goes from the Marina to the end of the Rocha Beach, is lined with bars with lots of entertainment and good music.
