Viseu, jardins e animação
This is a city in the North Central part of Portugal, well recognised for its economic dynamics and cultural life. The local parks, gardens and mountains allow for the practice of sports and for great moments of discovery.
Your Hostel is located in the Fontelo Park, a leisure and sports park. Close by you can find the municipal swimming pools. Find out how you can take a class there or just go for a swim. We recommend that you discover Viseu on foot. Walk towards the historic centre and the Cathedral. Right next door is the Grão Vasco National Museum.
Cross the Soar Gate and the Afonsina Wall, passing by Praça D. Duarte until R. Direita. This is Viseu’s main commercial stretch. Passing Praça do Rossio and the City Hall, this walk ends at the Aquilino Ribeiro Garden. While strolling through the city, keep an eye out for the Street Art murals.
For your afternoon, you can organise a bike ride or a pedestrian trail in the region. There are circuits at the Dão Ecopista, at the Aguieira Dam and in the Caramulo Mountains. Still in the city, be sure to visit the Cava de Viriato, where you will find a statue of this famous Lusitanian warrior.
There is plenty to choose from for a night out. You can go to Palácio do Gelo Shopping Centre, try the ice rink or watch a film at the cinema. You can also choose between several bars and nightclubs to listen to good music and dance.
